A summer study program in Washington, DC, Poland, Germany and Israel for secondary school teachers.
The Summer Seminar Program on Holocaust and Jewish Resistance was initiated by Vladka Meed in 1984. This year's program is scheduled for July 5–26, 2010. This seminar is for secondary school teachers who implement Holocaust studies in their classrooms. Our group visits historic sites and hears from survivors and prominent scholars.
This year's itinerary begins with a visit to the U.S. Holocaust Memorial Museum in Washington, DC. The group will then travel to Poland to see a number of the death camps—including Auschwitz-Birkenau, Treblinka, Plaszow, Majdanek and Belzec—as well as the site of the Warsaw Ghetto Uprising. For the first time, the Summer Seminar will include Germany to visit the Jüdisches Museum Berlin, the Memorial to the Murdered Jews of Europe. The stop in Israel will feature a visit to Yad VaShem. The trip will conclude with a return visit to the U.S. Holocaust Memorial Museum.
